Brief: Re-imagine a classic game from your childhood
I loved the game of Buckaroo and for a modern version, I chose to create a card game. Anyone who is familiar with the popular game 'Weeds' will understand the gameplay very well.
Basic Gameplay
You start off with 5 cards. There must be space in front of each player to collect 5 item cards. Pick up a card after each turn. The first player to collect 5 item cards in their space wins. Action cards are played into another players' item space to stop them from winning.
Alternative Gameplay
Each item card is worth a certain amount of points. Whoever has the greatest number of points in their space wins. Gameplay can continue by reusing the disposed of cards pile.
Action Cards:
Steal:
A player with this card uses it to steal a card from another player's space. The 'steal' card is discarded after use. The stolen card can be disposed of or added to your own garden.
Sleeping Donkey:
Miss a turn. Chose who you feel deserves to miss their turn. Dispose of the card after use.
Tremor Card
Your donkey loses a piece of cargo, you must dispose of a card from your space. Choose who will lose an item. Both cards are disposed of.
Buckaroo
Possibly the most sort-after card in the game. A player plays a Buckaroo Card to a player of their choice. The chosen player loses all items collected in their space. The Buckaroo Card joins the item cards back in the disposal pile.
A few minor adjustments in this card game are required but, I have played it with friends who thoroughly enjoyed it. Perhaps it could become an actual game?
Any thoughts/comments are always welcome.
